We present a mixed vector finite element method for solving the time dependent coupled Ampere and Faraday laws of Maxwell's equations on unstructured hexahedral grids that employs high order discretization in both space and time. The method is of arbitrary order accuracy in space and up to 5th order accurate in time, making it well suited for electrically large problems where grid anisotropy and numerical dispersion have plagued other methods. Divergence preserving discrete surface integral methods for Maxwell`s curl equations using non-orthogonal unstructured grids

Several new discrete surface integral methods for solving Maxwell`s equations in the time-domain are presented. These methods, which allow the use of general non-orthogonal mixed-polyhedral unstructured grids, are direct generalizations of the canonical staggered-grid finite difference method. These methods are conservative in that they locally preserve {open_quotes}divergence{close_quotes} or charge. Employing mixed polyhedral cells (hexahedral, tetrahedral, etc.), these methods allow more accurate modeling of non-rectangular structures and objects because the traditional {open_quotes}stair-stepped{close_quotes} boundary approximations associated with the orthogonal grid based finite difference methods can be avoided. A finite element technique for solving the two-dimensional Maxwell's equations in the time domain

In this paper, we present a two-dimensional Galerkin finite element formulation of the Maxwell's equations in the time domain. The Galerkin element integrals are computed analytically and an explicit forward-backward time integration scheme is employed for advancing the resulting set of ordinary differential equations in time. We will compare two formulations of the simple 4-node bilinear element: an equal-order interpolation element in which both the electric field and the magnetic field are approximated by bilinear basis functions; and a mixed-interpolation element in which the electric field is approximated as piecewise constant and the magnetic field as piecewise bilinear functions.
