Title: Some observations concerning near-wall PTV measurements

Abstract

In conjunction with an experimental study of entropy generation in bypass-transitional boundary layers, some considerations in the application of particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) have been examined. Treated are ideas on desirable spatial resolution, uncertainties in PTV algorithms and other uncertainties which may dominate plus the deduction of mean wall shear stress (or friction velocity) from mean velocity profiles determined with near-wall PTV.
