Title: Task 1, Milestone 1 - Alloy Selection

Abstract

The selection of a nickel-base alloy from candidate materials, Alloy X, INCONEL® 740H®, Alloy 230, Alloy 617 and Haynes® 282®, for which to investigate the creep-fatigue properties and assess applicable creep-fatigue design rules, has involved consideration of the availability of creep-fatigue and creep property data and alloy strength as well as other factors. Ultimately, the higher tensile and creep strength combined with a large, available database of creep properties and a single step ageing treatment lead to the selection of INCONEL® 740H for further creep-fatigue study.
