Los Alamos National Laboratory has invented VideoMagic, a technology that automatically extracts resonant frequencies, vibrational mode shapes and damping ratios from video of vibrating structures.This technique estimates full-field mode shapes at high spatial resolution. This allows quantitative analysis of mode shapes for detecting minute stiffness losses in structures, using pixels as video sensors.
