Title: Financial Responsibility Pricing Foundations White Paper

Abstract

This report presents and discusses the financial parameters incorporated in the financial instruments used to meet financial responsibility requirements per the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Underground Injection Control Class VI well regulations. These financial instruments are: Trust Fund, Escrow Account, Insurance, Letter of Credit, Surety Bond, and Self-Insurance. They provide financial coverage to complete corrective action, injection well plugging, and post-injection site care and site closure and respond to incidents requiring emergency and remedial response should the operator fail to do so.
