Antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice in the layered compound ${CePd}_{1 - x} {Bi}_{2}$ and comparison to the superconductor ${LaPd}_{1 - x} {Bi}_{2}$

ZrCuSi ₂-type CePd _1-xBi ₂ crystals were obtained from excess Bi flux. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that CePd _1-xBi ₂ is a highly anisotropic antiferromagnet with transition temperature at 6 K, and a magnetic-field-induced metamagnetic transition at 5 T. An enhanced Sommerfeld coefficient of γ of 0.199 J-mol-Ce ^-1K ^-2 obtained from specific heat measurements suggests a moderate Kondo effect in CePd _1-xBi ₂. In addition to the antiferromagnetic peak the resistivity curve shows a shoulder-like behavior which could be attributed to the presence of Kondo effect and crystal-electric-field effects in this compound. Neutron spin resonance as a probe of Fermi surface nesting and superconducting gap symmetry in ${Ba}_{0.67} K_{0.33} {({Fe}_{1 - x} {Co}_{x})}_{2} {As}_{2}$

Here, we use inelastic neutron scattering to study the energy and wave-vector dependence of the superconductivity-induced resonance in hole-doped Ba _0.67K _0.33(Fe _1–xCo _x) ₂As ₂ (x=0 and 0.08 with T _c ≈ 37 and 28 K, respectively). In previous work on electron-doped Ba(Fe _0.963Ni _0.037) ₂As ₂ (T _N = 26 K and T _c = 17 K), the resonance is found to peak sharply at the antiferromagnetic (AF) ordering wave vector Q _AF along the longitudinal direction, but disperses upwards away from Q _AF along the transverse direction.
