Turbulent spectrum created by non-Abelian plasma instabilities

Recent numerical work on the fate of plasma instabilities in weakly-coupled non-Abelian gauge theory has shown the development of a cascade of energy from long to short wavelengths. This cascade has a steady-state spectrum, analogous to the Kolmogorov spectrum for turbulence in hydrodynamics or for energy cascades in other systems. In this paper, we theoretically analyze processes responsible for this cascade and find a steady-state spectrum f{sub k}{approx}k{sup -2}, where f{sub k} is the phase-space density of particles with momentum k. SU(2) non-Abelian gauge field theory in one dimension on digital quantum computers

A dynamical quantum simulation of SU(2) non-Abelian gauge field theory on a digital quantum computer is presented here. This was enabled on current quantum hardware by introducing a mapping of the field onto a register of qubits that utilizes local gauge symmetry while preserving local constraints on the fields, reducing the dimensionality of the calculation. Controlled plaquette operators and gauge-variant completions in the unphysical part of the Hilbert space were designed and used to implement time evolution. The new techniques developed in this work generalize to quantum simulations of higher dimensional gauge field theories.

Spacetime dynamics of chiral magnetic currents in a hot non-Abelian plasma

The correlations of electric currents in hot non-Abelian plasma are responsible for the experimental manifestations of the chiral magnetic effect in heavy-ion collisions. We evaluate these correlations using holography, and show that they are driven by large-scale topological fluctuations. In a non-Abelian plasma with chiral fermions, local axial charge can be generated either by topological fluctuations (creating domains with nonzero Chern-Simons number) or by thermal fluctuations. Within holography, we investigate the dynamical creation of the axial charge and isolate the imprint of the topological dynamics on the spatial correlations of electric current. Nonlocal non-Abelian gauge theory: Conformal invariance and $β$ -function

This paper focuses on extending our previous discussion of an Abelian U(1) gauge theory involving infinite derivatives to a non-Abelian SU(N) case. The renormalization group equation (RGEs) of the SU(N) gauge coupling is calculated and shown to reproduce the local theory β-function in the limit of the nonlocal scale M → ∞ . Interestingly, the gauge coupling stops its running beyond the scale M, approaching an asymptotically conformal theory.
