An extensive, model-independent analysis of the nature of triaxial deformation in ⁷⁶Ge, a candidate for neutrinoless double-beta (0νββ) decay, was carried out following multistep Coulomb excitation. Here, we report total absorption spectroscopy measurements of ⁹²Rb, ⁹⁶ ^gsY, and ¹⁴²Cs β decays, which are the most important contributors to the high energy ν¯ _e spectral shape in nuclear reactors. These three β decays contribute 43% of the ¯νe flux near 5.5 MeV emitted by nuclear reactors. This ν¯ _e energy is particularly interesting due to spectral features recently observed in several experiments including the Daya Bay, Double Chooz, and RENO Collaborations. The existence of ²⁶Al (t _1/2 = 7.17 × 10 ⁵ yr) in the interstellar medium provides a direct confirmation of ongoing nucleosynthesis in the Galaxy. The presence of a low-lying 0 ⁺ isomer ( ²⁶Al ^m), however, severely complicates the astrophysical calculations. Here we present for the first time a study of the ²⁶Al ^m (d, p) ²⁷ Al reaction using an isomeric ²⁶Al beam.
