Single-ion properties of the $S_{eff}$ = $\frac{1}{2}$ XY antiferromagnetic pyrochlores $Na A^{'} {Co}_{2} F_{7}$ ( $A^{'} = {Ca}^{2 +}, {Sr}^{2 +}$ )

The antiferromagnetic pyrochlore material NaCaCo ₂F ₇ is a thermal spin liquid over a broad temperature range (≈140 K down to T _F=2.4 K), in which magnetic correlations between Co ²⁺ dipole moments explore a continuous manifold of antiferromagnetic XY states. The thermal spin liquid is interrupted by spin freezing at a temperature that is ~2% of the mean-field interaction strength, leading to short-range static XY clusters with distinctive relaxation dynamics. Atomically imaged crystal structure and normal-state properties of superconducting $C a_{10} P t_{4} A s_{8} {({(F e_{1 - x} P t_{x})}_{2} A s_{2})}_{5}$

Superconducting Ca ₁₀Pt ₄As ₈(Fe ₂As ₂) ₅ is rare because optimal superconducting transition temperature is achieved without chemical doping or pressure. Furthermore, the unclear crystal structure limits our ability to understand the structure-property relationship. Using atomically resolved scanning transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction, we directly determine the structure of this superconductor: it forms a monoclinic structure (space group P2 ₁/n) with lattice parameters a = b = 8.76Å, c = 20.18Å, and γ = 90.5°.
