The differential cross sections for the yields of nuclear fragments at an angle of 3.5◦ in the fragmentation of carbon nuclei with energy 0.95 GeV per nucleon on a beryllium target were measured in the FRAGM experiment at the ITEP TWA heavy-ion accelerator. The momentum spectra of fragments were used to test the following four models of ion–ion interactions: BC, INCL++, LAQGSM03.03, and QMD. For light fragments, the slope parameters of the kinetic-energy spectra were obtained in the cumulative region.

Nuclear fragmentation in interactions of 3.7A GeV {sup 24}Mg projectiles with emulsion targets

The process of nuclear fragmentation in interactions of 3.7A GeV {sup 24}Mg nuclei with the different target nuclei in a nuclear emulsion have been investigated. The total charge distributions of nuclear fragments are well described by the predictions of the extended Glauber model. The multiplicity and charge distributions of fragments with Z{>=}5 in quasinucleon target events are found to agree satisfactorily with the calculations of the bond percolation model. The fragmentation of the projectile nucleus depends strongly on the target mass. The yields of long-lived nuclear fragments at an angle of 3.5° that originate fromthe fragmentation of carbon ions with an energy of T{sub 0} = 0.6 GeV per nucleon on a berylliumtarget were measured in the FRAGMexperiment at the ITEP TWA heavy-ion accelerator. The momentum spectra of these fragments cover both the fragmentation-maximum region and the cumulative region. The respective differential cross sections change by about five orders of magnitude. Target and projectile fragmentations in {sup 208}Pb-emulsion collisions at 160{ital A} GeV

We present the results of a study performed on the {sup 208}Pb-emulsion interactions at 160{ital A} GeV. In a minimum-bias sample of 1034 nuclear collisions, charges are assigned to all of the emitted 3431 helium and 1820 heavier projectile fragments during the breakup of the {sup 208}Pb beam in emulsion. Multiplicity distributions of the target-associated slow-moving particles and of the fast-moving projectile fragments are investigated. The polar angles of a subsample of 337 interactions having at least four projectile fragments of charge {ital Z}{ge}2 are accurately measured and their pseudorapidity distributions are obtained. Determining critical exponents in small systems

The EOS Collaboration, consisting of groups from GSI, Kent State University, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, INFN Catania, Purdue University, Texas A&M, and U.C. Davis, has been interested in flow and multifragmentation for over ten years. The Purdue High Energy Nuclear Physics Group studies of proton-nucleus collisions using an internal gas jet target of heavy noble gases allowed them to accurately measure target fragment yields over a wide range of fragment mass, charge, and incident energies.
