Dose Calculations for NSLS-II Beamline Frontend Safety Shutters
- Brookhaven National Lab. (BNL), Upton, NY (United States)
Bremsstrahlung is produced in the storage ring by the interaction of the electron beam with residual gas molecules and/or with storage ring components like vacuum chamber, magnet yokes etc. Such interactions are one of the sources of stored beam loss, resulting in beam decay, and occur continuously during storage ring operation. Gas bremsstrahlung interactions take place all around the storage ring, but are a particular problem in the straight sections for the insertion devices.
