Title: Bremsstrahlung Ray Tracing Guidelines for NSLS II Beamlines and Front Ends

Abstract

Ray trace diagrams show the propagation of radiation by the line of sight. A bremsstrahlung ray trace diagram shows the propagation of bremsstrahlung radiation by the line of sight in the beamlines through the front end apertures. It shows the propagation of vertical and horizontal rays including the extremal rays and termination of these rays by absorption in various shielding components. Both bremsstrahlung and synchrotron ray trace diagrams are needed for the proper shielding evaluation of the beamlines and front ends.
