Title: Review of Electric Power Research Institute Documentation Related to Creep and Potential Creep-Fracture

Abstract

This NUREG presents the joint work performed by Sandia National Laboratories and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in summarizing and reviewing reports from the Electric Power Research Institute related to creep and potential creep fracture, particularly in concrete and reinforced concrete structures. The nine EPRI reports summarized and reviewed in this NUREG also pertain to nondestructive evaluation of reinforced concrete structures, automated inspection and monitoring techniques, and literature reviews of inspection reports and studies on existing power plants. This research addresses technical issues related to ageing, shrinkage, creep, and their effects on PCCV and pre-stressed spent fuel pool in the light of 80 year operating life. It is expected that this report will contribute to maintaining and strengthening competence and improving practices for assessing aging effects for concrete containment and pre-stressed concrete spent full pool structures.
