Title: An Alternative Method for Disposition of U.S. Excess Weapons-Grade Plutonium: Addressing the Challenges of the PMDA

Abstract

This paper will discuss options for the U.S. government, which include the original MOX approach and the Obama Administration’s proposed dilute and dispose method. This paper will also provide an examination of the thorium fuel cycle as a potential breakthrough in plutonium disposition.
