Title: Electrodeposition of Silver From Non-Cyanide Solutions Final Report CRADA No. TC-0534-93

Abstract

The objective of this project was to develop anon-cyanide solution that can be used for electrodepostion of silver coatings. The coatings have to be pore-free, corrosion resistant and tarnish resistant. They also must exhibit good wear-resistance properties and be capable of being adherently deposited on a variety of substrates including steel, aluminum, copper, stainless steels, and high-strength alloys. The benefit is the limitation of all cyanide deposition processes from electroplating operations, as silver is the only remaining metal that still relies on cyanide formulations for electrodeposition.
