Title: Heat Capacity Mapping of Weapons Materials and Structure Final Report CRADA No. TSB-1450-97

Abstract

The purpose of this CRADA was to produce a single evaluated-defect map which characterized shalow unfiIIed spaces (voids) and air gaps (disbonds) surrounded by weapons materials before/after potting operations designed to fiIl any unfilled spaces. Subsurface clutter is eliminated by judicious use of heat capacity (thermal inertia) maps at critical times which distinguish foreign materials from normal ‘and defective weapons materials. Evaluated defect maps determine the defect locations, areal extents, depths, thicknesses and volume damage incurred on three dimensional (3D) image displays.
