  • The manual is intended to guide radon mitigation contractors and workers through training that reduces exposure to ionizing radiation, particulates and organic vapors as well as excessive noise, electrical hazards, eye hazards, and chemical hazards. The manual supplements but does not replace the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) regulations, or any other regulations.
  • This document is a training manual which provides information to educate inspectors and others who work around underground storage tanks about potential health and safety hazards associated with underground storage tanks.
  • Federal statutes and regulations and Executive Order 12196 require that all federal agencies establish occupational safety and health programs for their employees. The Department of Energy (DOE) occupational safety and health program requires that all employees be informed of hazards in their workplace and how to minimize the risk to themselves, their fellow workers and members of the general public from exposure to those hazards.   • Reports summarizing activities of students assigned to the Technology Assessments Section of the Health and Safety Research Division for the summer 1980 are presented. Unless indicated otherwise, each report was written by the student whose work is being described. For each student, the student's supervisor, the name of the program under which the student was brought to ORNL, the academic level of the student, and the name of the ORNL project to which the student was assigned are tabulated. The reports are presented in alphabetical order of the students' last names.
