Abstract

This Final Technical Report is a summary of the activities and outcome of the Department of Energy (DOE) Assistance Agreement DE-EE0005414 with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). The Assistance Agreement was created in 2012 to support investigations into the Iowa Hill Pumped-storage Project (Project), a new development that would add an additional 400 MW of capacity to SMUD’s existing 688MW Upper American River Hydroelectric Project (UARP) in the Sierra Nevada mountains east of Sacramento, California.

The SMUD-Solano Wind project is owned by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). The project, which is the first utility-owned, large-scale wind project in the U.S., is located in the Montezuma Hills region of Solano County in Northern California. This report summarizes the completion of four renewable energy installations supported by California Energy Commission (CEC) grant number CEC Grant PIR-11-005, the US Department of Energy (DOE) Assistance Agreement, DE-EE0003070, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Community Renewable Energy Deployment (CRED) program. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District Photovoltaic Project (SMUDPV) is the phased installation of a 100-MW /SUB ac/ Utility photovoltaic (PV) powerplant.
