  • The {Lambda}{sub b}(udb) baryon is observed in the decay {Lambda}{sub b} {yields} J/{psi}{Lambda} using 6.1 fb{sup -1} of p{bar p} collisions collected with the D0 detector at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV. The production fraction multiplied by the branching fraction for this decay relative to that for the decay B{sup 0} {yields} J/{psi}K{sub s}{sup 0} is measured to be 0.345 {+-} 0.034 (stat.) {+-} 0.033 (syst.) {+-} 0.003 (PDG). Using the world average value of f(b {yields} B{sup 0}) {center_dot} {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} J/{psi}K{sub s}{sup 0}) = (1.74 {+-} 0.08) x 10{sup -5}, they obtain f(b {yields} {Lambda}{sub b}) {center_dot} {Beta}({Lambda}{submore » b} {yields} J/{psi}{Lambda}) = (6.01 {+-} 0.60 (stat.) {+-} 0.58 (syst.) {+-} 0.28 (PDG)) x 10{sup -5}. This measurement represents an improvement in precision by about a factor of three with respect to the current world average.« less

  • Using the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring we have measured the ratio of branching fractions, B([ital D][sup +][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +][pi][sup +])/([ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +])=2.35[plus minus]0.16[plus minus]0.16. Our recent measurement of [ital scrB]([ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +]) then gives [ital scrB]([ital D][sup +][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +][pi][sup +])=(9.3[plus minus]0.6[plus minus]0.8)%.
  • Using 1.79 fb[sup [minus]1] of data recorded by the CLEO II detector we have measured the absolute branching fraction for [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +]. The angular correlation between the [pi][sup +] emitted in the decay [ital D][sup *+][r arrow][ital D][sup 0][pi][sup +], and the jet direction in [ital e][sup +][ital e[minus]][r arrow][ital c[bar c]] events, is used to determine the total number of inclusive [ital D][sup 0] mesons produced from this source. The subsequent reconstruction of the decay chain [ital D][sup *+][r arrow][ital D][sup 0][pi][sup +],[ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +] allows a measurement of themore » absolute [ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +] branching fraction. Correcting for decay radiation in the final state, we find [ital scrB]([ital D][sup 0][r arrow][ital K][sup [minus]][pi][sup +])=[3.95[plus minus]0.08(stat)[plus minus]0.17(syst)]%.« less
  • The branching fraction for the decay of the UPSILON(1S) into tau pairs has been measured to be 3.4 +- 0.4 +- 0.4%. This result agrees with the previously measured branching ratio of the decay into muon pairs.
