  • We investigate the leading-twist light-cone distribution amplitudes for the pion and kaon based on the gauge-invariant nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum in the presence of external axial-vector currents. We find that the nonlocal contribution from the gauge invariance has much effects on the pion distribution amplitudes, while it changes mildly the kaon ones. We also study the Gegenbauer moments of the distribution amplitudes and compare them with the empirical analysis of the CLEO data.
  • We investigate the twist-3 pion and kaon distribution amplitudes of the pseudoscalar ({phi}{sub {pi}}{sub ,K}{sup p}) and pseudotensor ({phi}{sub {pi}}{sub ,K}{sup {sigma}}) types, based on the effective chiral action from the instanton vacuum. Flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking effects are explicitly taken into account. The Gegenbauer moments and the moments of the distribution amplitudes (<{xi}{sup m}>) are also computed. Our results are summarized as follows: a{sub 2,{pi}}{sup p}{approx}0.4, a{sub 1,K}{sup p}{approx}0.02 and a{sub 2,K}{sup p}{approx}0.14, and a{sub 2,{pi}}{sup {sigma}}{approx}0.02 and a{sub 1,K}{sup {sigma}}{approx}a{sub 2,K}{sup {sigma}}{approx}0; <{xi}{sup 2}>{sub {pi}}{sup p}{approx}<{xi}{sup 2}>{sub K}{sup p}{approx}0.37 and <{xi}>{sub K}{sup p}{approx}0, and <{xi}{sup 2}>{sub {pi}}{sup {sigma}}{approx}<{xi}{supmore » 2}>{sub K}{sup {sigma}}{approx}0.20 and <{xi}>{sub K}{sup {sigma}}{approx}0. We compare our results with those from the QCD sum rules. We also discuss the relevant Wilson coefficients which were analyzed recently in chiral perturbation theory.« less
  • We present a calculation of the quark distribution amplitudes (DAs), the Gegenbauer moments, and decay constants for {pi}, {rho}, K, and K* mesons using the light-front quark model. While the quark DA for {pi} is somewhat broader than the asymptotic one, that for {rho} meson is very close to the asymptotic one. The quark DAs for K and K* show asymmetric form due to the flavor SU(3)-symmetry breaking effect. The decay constants for the transversely polarized {rho} and K* mesons (f{sub {rho}}{sup T} and f{sub K*}{sup T}) as well as the longitudinally polarized ones (f{sub {rho}} and f{sub K*}) aremore » also obtained. Our averaged values for f{sub V}{sup T}/f{sub V}, i.e. (f{sub {rho}}{sup T}/f{sub {rho}}){sub av}=0.78 and (f{sub K*}{sup T}/f{sub K*}){sub av}=0.84, are found to be consistent with other model predictions. Especially, our results for the decay constants are in good agreement with the SU(6) symmetry relation, f{sub {rho}}{sub (K*)}{sup T}=(f{sub {pi}}{sub (K)}+f{sub {rho}}{sub (K*)})/2.« less
  • By use of a single-instanton approximation the twist-three light-cone distribution amplitudes of the pion as well as the p-wave mesons, i.e., f{sub 0}(1370), K{sub 0}*(1430), and a{sub 0}(1450), are investigated within the framework of QCD moment sum rules with the inclusion of instanton effects based on the valence quark model. The results show that there is much change on light-cone distribution amplitudes due to the isospin- and chirality-dependent instanton contribution compared with the instanton-free ones. We find that the instanton-involved twist-three light-cone distribution amplitudes are non-positive-definite within some range of the momentum fraction and that there are rapid changes atmore » two ends of the momentum fraction. To guarantee the convergence of moments using the method in this work, a low instanton density should be adopted; for instance, n{sub c}=(1/2) fm{sup -4}. Possible ingredients which might have an impact on the results are briefly discussed. These light-cone distribution amplitudes may be helpful to analyze exclusive heavy-flavored processes.« less
