  • Using the solutions of the gap equations of the magnetic-color-flavor-locked (MCFL) phase of paired quark matter in a magnetic field, and taking into consideration the separation between the longitudinal and transverse pressures due to the field-induced breaking of the spatial rotational symmetry, the equation of state of the MCFL phase is self-consistently determined. This result is then used to investigate the possibility of absolute stability, which turns out to require a field-dependent 'bag constant' to hold. That is, only if the bag constant varies with the magnetic field, there exists a window in the magnetic field vs bag constant planemore » for absolute stability of strange matter. Implications for stellar models of magnetized (self-bound) strange stars and hybrid (MCFL core) stars are calculated and discussed.« less

  • We study /ital CP/ violation in a chiral color model with exotic fermions transforming as singlets of the weak-isospin group SU(2)/sub /ital L//. The Higgs sector consists of a nonet of chiral color and the usual doublet of SU(2)/sub /ital L///times/U(1)/sub /ital Y//. In the limit in which the mixings between the third generation with the first two generations are small, /ital CP/-violating interactions are dominated by the exchange of neutral Higgs bosons. The /ital CP/-violating parameters /epsilon/ and /epsilon//prime///epsilon/ for the kaon system are easily accommodated. The neutron electric dipole moment is generated at the one-loop level and ismore » /similar to/10/sup /minus/25/--10/sup /minus/26/e cm.« less
  • In this paper the authors are interested in studying critical behavior of Hermitian one-matrix models where the topological expansion for the free-energy develops a logarithmic singularity, {Gamma} {proportional to} {mu}{sup 2} log {mu}+. The authors consider models where the potential is of the type U(M) = t{sub 0}V{sub 0}(M) {minus} t{sub f} log V{sub f} (M). The authors show that, for t{sub f} {gt} 0 allows the possibility of Bose condensation, which is shown to be responsible for a logarithmic scaling violation for the free energy.
  • The chiral spin state of the half-filled Hubbard model, taking into account the local SU(2) symmetry was studied. It is pointed out that there is a possibility that P,T invariances are not violated even in the chiral spin state due to the SU(2) symmetry, so that the Chern-Simons term cannot appear.
