Title: On the two-loop virtual QCD corrections to Higgs boson pair production in the standard model

Abstract

Here, we compute the next-to-leading order virtual QCD corrections to Higgs-pair production via gluon fusion. We also present analytic results for the two-loop contributions to the spin-0 and spin-2 form factors in the amplitude. The reducible contributions, given by the double-triangle diagrams, are evaluated exactly while the two-loop irreducible diagrams are evaluated by an asymptotic expansion in heavy top-quark mass up to and including terms of O(1/m$$8\atop{t}$$). We estimate that mass effects can reduce the hadronic cross section by at most 10 %, assuming that the finite top-quark mass effects are of similar size in the entire range of partonic energies.

  • The complete one-loop electroweak corrections to charged Higgs boson pair production in {gamma}{gamma} collision mode at linear colliders in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), are calculated in this paper. We discuss the dependence of the corrections to the subprocess {gamma}{gamma}{yields}H{sup +}H{sup -} on the related parameters, such as the colliding energy, charged Higgs boson mass M{sub H{sup {+-}}} and some supersymmetric parameters tan{beta}, M{sub SUSY} and gaugino mass parameter M{sub 2}. We find that the corrections generally reduce the Born cross sections and the relative one-loop corrections to both the subprocess typically in the range of -10% to -30%.more » We also present the numerical results at the SPS1a' point from the supersymmetry parameter analysis (SPA) project. We conclude that the full one-loop electroweak corrections to subprocess {gamma}{gamma}{yields}H{sup +}H{sup -} and the parent process e{sup +}e{sup -}{yields}{gamma}{gamma}{yields}H{sup +}H{sup -} are significant and therefore should be considered in precise analysis of charged Higgs boson pair productions via {gamma}{gamma} collision at future linear colliders.« less
  • Low- and intermediate-mass Higgs bosons decay preferably into fermion pairs. The one-loop electroweak corrections to the respective decay rates are dominated by a flavor-independent term of [ital O]([ital G][sub [ital F]][ital m][sub [ital t]][sup 2]). We calculate the two-loop gluon correction to this term. It turns out that this correction screens the leading high-[ital m][sub [ital t]] behavior of the one-loop result by roughly 10%. We also present the two-loop QCD correction to the contribution induced by a pair of fourth-generation quarks with arbitrary masses. As expected, the inclusion of the QCD correction considerably reduces the renormalization-scheme dependence of themore » prediction.« less
  • Considering the large value of the top Yukawa coupling, we investigate the leading one-loop Yukawa electroweak corrections that can be induced by the top quark in a process such as Higgs production in association with a tagged bottom-antibottom pair at the LHC. At next-to-leading order these contributions are found to be small at the LHC both for the total cross section and for the distributions. In the limit of vanishing bottom Yukawa coupling where the leading order contribution vanishes, the process can still be induced at one-loop through the top quark transition. Though this contribution which can be counted asmore » part of the next-to-next-to-leading order correction is small for Higgs masses around 120 GeV, it quickly picks up for higher Higgs masses. This contribution represents the rescattering of the top quarks and their decay into W's leading to Higgs production through WW fusion.« less
  • We investigate the associated production of neutral Higgs boson with squark pair in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with and without explicit CP violation, respectively. We show that the dominant productions in both cases are always ones of the lightest neutral Higgs boson associated with the lightest stop pair, which can reach a few pb, in the ranges of parameters allowed by constraints from the electric dipole moment experiments. In most of the parameter space, the total cross sections in the case with explicit CP violation are significantly enhanced, compared with ones without explicit CP violation. For some special parameters, more » several orders of magnitude enhancement can be obtained.« less
