Targeted fluid delivery system
A targeted fluid delivery system is provided for delivering a treatment fluid into tubes of a tube and shell type heat exchanger such as in a condenser, typically used in a power plant. The system targets the treatment fluid delivery to separate regions of tubes such that the concentration of the treatment fluid within the tubes of the targeted region is greater than a concentration of the treatment fluid upon mixing with water from other tubes outside of the targeted region at an outlet. The system includes a plurality of manifold tiles oriented in fixed relationship to a tubesheet of the condenser at an inlet thereof such that the manifold tiles are rigidly held in place, but do not block the tubes of the condenser. The treatment fluid is delivered to the tubes through injectors in the manifold tiles. The treatment fluid is delivered to the manifold tiles through fluid conduits which pass through a water box of the condenser. The fluid conduits are coupled to a control valve which allows the treatment fluid to be directed to individual fluid conduits in sequence without requiring adjustment of elements within the water box. As an alternative to the manifold tiles, a tubesheet can be provided with injectors embedded therein. 15 figs.
