Synthesis and properties of super-conducting Tl{sub 2}Ba{sub 2}CuO{sub 6} prepared under high and low pressures

The superconducting Tl{sub 2}Ba{sub 2}CuO{sup 6} compound, which contains a single CuO{sub 2} layer, has been synthesized under high and low oxygen pressures. Thallium loss can be completely suppressed and samples can be made with stoichiometric cation compositions. Several substitutions have been attempted. A wide range of T{sub c}`s is obtained and the correlations between T{sub c}, oxygen content and changes in structural parameters will be reported.
