Title: Room-temperature Ba(Fe 1–xCo x) 2As 2 is not tetragonal: Direct observation of magnetoelastic interactions in pnictide superconductors

Abstract

In this study, using a local, real-space probe, aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), we discovered room-temperature distortions in the crystal structure of the parent BaFe 2As 2 and superconducting Ba(Fe 1-xCo x) 2As 2 compounds never before reported.
