The Mountain Bluebird (Sialia currucoides) is found in western North America and is known for the blue color that completely covers the male (Martin et al. 1951). Plutonium deposition and distribution from worldwide fallout in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado

Samples of soil, river, and reservoir sediment were collected and analyzed for two isotopes of plutonium from 1979 through 1987. The plutonium is principally a manmade element, but it has been distributed throughout the world as a result of fallout from nuclear weapons tests and from reentry of satellites that contained a nuclear power source. Fallout is deposited on soil and is subject to erosion and transport as sediment in rivers and deposition in reservoirs. Measuring Radioactivity from Fukushima Daiichi in New Mexico

On March 11, 2011, the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant was damaged by the tsunami that followed the 'Great East Japan Earthquake,' and the reactor subsequently leaked radioactive material. In response, LANL augmented the routine ambient (AIRNET) and stack (Rad-NESHAP) measurements with three high-volume samplers: No.167 at the Old White Rock Fire Station; No.173 at the TA-49 gate, and No.211 at the Los Alamos Medical Center. New Mexico climate manual: solar and weather data. Final report

This manual contains extensive solar and weather data for the state of New Mexico in tabular, map, and graphic formats. It is particularly relevant to design of energy efficient buildings and renewable energy systems, but is also broad enough to provide useful information to many other disciplines. Maps of the state show monthly values of insolation for horizontal, south-facing latitude-tilted and vertical surfaces, as well as mean temperatures.
