Title: Electrical machine

Abstract

An apparatus, such as an electrical machine, is provided. The apparatus can include a rotor defining a rotor bore and a conduit disposed in and extending axially along the rotor bore. The conduit can have an annular conduit body defining a plurality of orifices disposed axially along the conduit and extending through the conduit body. The rotor can have an inner wall that at least partially defines the rotor bore. The orifices can extend through the conduit body along respective orifice directions, and the rotor and conduit can be configured to provide a line of sight along the orifice direction from the respective orifices to the inner wall.

  • The invention provides an electrical machine having an inductor and an armature, one of which has at least two independent winding assemblies. The switching into and out of circuit of each winding assembly is controlled by a processor which receives monitoring parameters of the machine and desired value parameters, thereby controlling in real time the operating characteristics of the machine. The machine may be a winddriven generator.
  • A super-conductive, cryogenically-cooled electrical machine comprises a superconductive exciting winding located in a hollow rotor and a system for cooling the ends of the rotor shaft. The cooling agent is delivered from one end of said shaft to the rotor space through the axial passage of the shaft whose ends are made of at least two coaxial tubes secured together by threading. The cooling agent is removed through the clearances of said thread and such construction of the rotor shaft reduces heat influxes to the superconductive exciting winding at least threefold and lowers the weight-to-power ratio of the machine atmore » least fivefold.« less
  • This patent describes, in combination, a land vehicle having axially aligned ground engaging tractive wheels, and a drivetrain carried by the vehicle for the propulsion thereof.   • The electrical machine comprises a stator 1 with a superconducting winding 5 disposed in a cryostat 4 and a rotor 7 with a cooling winding 10 disposed on the rotor body. The stator also carries a compensating winding 6. The cryostat 4 is secured to the stator 1 so as to define a gap for the passage of a gaseous coolant between the external surface of the cryostat 4 and the normal-conductivity stator winding 6.
