This system uses a sunspace or passive gain area in tandem with an active collector array. The basic operation takes stratified warm air from the top of the sunspace and runs it up through the collector array. This allows the temperature in the sunspace to be kept at a controlled level and the air to then be boosted to a higher temperature for storage and retrieval purposes. (MHR)

The use of a channel-cut monochromator is the most straightforward method to ensure that the two reflection surfaces maintain alignment between crystallographic planes without the need for complicated alignment mechanisms. Three basic characteristics that affect monochromator performance are: subsurface damage which contaminates spectral purity; surface roughness which reduces efficiency due to scattering; and surface figure error which imparts intensity structure and coherence distortion in the beam. Norsk Hydro in conjunction with its service partners have completed the world`s first multilateral well with a cased and cemented junction and fullbore access to both laterals. Norsk Hydro`s Oseberg C platform has a limited number of slots to drill new wells to recover considerable reserves that remain in the Ness Formation of the Brent Group. Multilateral wells were seen as a solution to provide additional cost effective drainage points to the reservoir unit.
