Results of thermal test of metallic molybdenum disk target and fast-acting valve testing
This report describes the irradiation conditions for thermal testing of helium-cooled metallic disk targets that was conducted on March 9, 2016, at the Argonne National Laboratory electron linac. The four disks in this irradiation were pressed and sintered by Oak Ridge National Laboratory from molybdenum metal powder. Two of those disks were instrumented with thermocouples. Also reported are results of testing a fast-acting-valve system, which was designed to protect the accelerator in case of a target-window failure. -
Analysis and evaluation of the test results of the US/Netherlands 5-MW (thermal) closed-cycle MHD-generator experiments at Eindhoven University, The Netherlands. Final report, October 1, 1982-February 28, 1983
A brief study was made of the closed cycle MHD generator results obtained in a 5 MW(thermal) power, blowdown tests series, with a cold wall heat sink channel, at the University of Eindhoven. These results were compared with MHD generator experiments, and theoretical models based on these experiments, obtained with several generator configurations in a nominal 10 MW (thermal) power shock tunnel. The results were also compared with those obtained in a 3 MW (thermal) closed cycle MHD blowdown experiment. The objective of this review was to determine the parameters governing the electrical and gas dynamic performance of the 5more » -
A study of one gasoline-fueled engine line comparing emission results between 1969 engines and 1979 engines on three test procedures: the heavy-duty transient engine test, the heavy-duty 9-mode engine test, and the light-duty truck chassis test. Technical report
The 1977 Amendments to the Clean Air Act mandated EPA to set new emission standards for heavy-duty (HD) vehicles or engines for model years 1983 and 1985. These new standards were to represent a percentage reduction 'from the average of the actually measured emission from heavy-duty gasoline-fueled vehicles or engines...manufactured during the baseline model year.' EPA has initiated a testing program to determine the baseline emission levels. The testing program includes multiple transient tests on each baseline engine, during which emissions are measured by the critical flow venturi constant volume sample CFS-CVS technique. Additional testing on each engine includes themore »
