Membrane for hydrogen recovery from streams containing hydrogen sulfide
Abstract
A membrane for hydrogen recovery from streams containing hydrogen sulfide is provided. The membrane comprises a substrate, a hydrogen permeable first membrane layer deposited on the substrate, and a second membrane layer deposited on the first layer. The second layer contains sulfides of transition metals and positioned on the on a feed side of the hydrogen sulfide stream. The present invention also includes a method for the direct decomposition of hydrogen sulfide to hydrogen and sulfur.

Process for the recovery of ammonia, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from gas streams and from ammonium sulfites, sulfides and carbonates
A new process for separating and recovering volatile bases and volatile acids from their salts or their dissociation products in the liquid or gaseous state is described. A process is given for recovering ammonia and sulfur dioxide or hydrogen sulfide from, respectively, ammonium sulfites or sulfides. This process is conducted in 2 steps. In a first step, usually carried out at a moderate temperature, a salt is contacted with a less- volatile (or non-volatile) acid in a liquid phase containing at least one solvent such as hereinafter defined; during this step, the volatile acid is evolved in the gaseous statemore » -
Recovering sulfur from gas streams containing hydrogen sulfide
A process for the recovery of sulfur from gas streams containing hydrogen sulfide is disclosed which comprises the steps of reacting a portion of the hydrogen sulfide with sulfur dioxide in a Claus reaction to form sulfur, removing the sulfur, incinerating the residual hydrogen sulfide in the resulting gas stream to sulfur dioxide, absorbing the sulfur dioxide in the incinerate gas stream in an aqueous absorbent solution, stripping the sulfur dioxide from the aqueous absorbent solution, recycling the stripped sulfur dioxide for reaction with succeeding portions of hydrogen sulfide in the incoming gas stream, re-contacting the stripped aqueous absorbent solutionmore »
