Title: Fluid delivery control system

Abstract

A method of controlling the delivery of fluid to an engine includes receiving a fuel flow rate signal. An electric pump is arranged to deliver fluid to the engine. The speed of the electric pump is controlled based on the fuel flow rate signal.

  • The apparatus comprises a cylindrical casing or housing with an interior passageway in which is mounted a fluid divider comprising three air divider legs each of which is a tapered plate formed with a concave cavity or air scoop with curved upper edges that are joined together in the center so that the legs diverge downwardly and outwardly in the drill string passageway of the cylindrical housing. The legs support a divider hood dome on which is mounted three separate curved plates defining three air channels. The fluid is directed into the concave scoops then into channels that lead tomore » the outside of the housing in an upwardly direction. Fluid also spills over the air divider scoops and travels onto the bit, cooling the bit and chip removal from around the rollers.« less
  • A targeted fluid delivery system is provided for delivering a treatment fluid into tubes of a tube and shell type heat exchanger such as in a condenser, typically used in a power plant. The system targets the treatment fluid delivery to separate regions of tubes such that the concentration of the treatment fluid within the tubes of the targeted region is greater than a concentration of the treatment fluid upon mixing with water from other tubes outside of the targeted region at an outlet. The system includes a plurality of manifold tiles oriented in fixed relationship to a tubesheet ofmore » the condenser at an inlet thereof such that the manifold tiles are rigidly held in place, but do not block the tubes of the condenser. The treatment fluid is delivered to the tubes through injectors in the manifold tiles. The treatment fluid is delivered to the manifold tiles through fluid conduits which pass through a water box of the condenser. The fluid conduits are coupled to a control valve which allows the treatment fluid to be directed to individual fluid conduits in sequence without requiring adjustment of elements within the water box. As an alternative to the manifold tiles, a tubesheet can be provided with injectors embedded therein. 15 figs.« less
  • An automated electrophoretic system is disclosed. The system employs a capillary cartridge having a plurality of capillary tubes. The cartridge has a first array of capillary ends projecting from one side of a plate. The first array of capillary ends are spaced apart in substantially the same manner as the wells of a microtitre tray of standard size. This allows one to simultaneously perform capillary electrophoresis on samples present in each of the wells of the tray. The system includes a stacked, dual carrousel arrangement to eliminate cross-contamination resulting from reuse of the same buffer tray on consecutive executions frommore » electrophoresis. The system also has a gel delivery module containing a gel syringe/a stepper motor or a high pressure chamber with a pump to quickly and uniformly deliver gel through the capillary tubes. The system further includes a multi-wavelength beam generator to generate a laser beam which produces a beam with a wide range of wavelengths. An off-line capillary reconditioner thoroughly cleans a capillary cartridge to enable simultaneous execution of electrophoresis with another capillary cartridge. The streamlined nature of the off-line capillary reconditioner offers the advantage of increased system throughput with a minimal increase in system cost.« less
  • A control system and method for a power delivery system, such as in an automotive vehicle, having an engine coupled to a continuously variable ratio transmission (CVT). Totally independent control of engine and transmission enable the engine to precisely follow a desired operating characteristic, such as the ideal operating line for minimum fuel consumption. CVT ratio is controlled as a function of commanded power or torque and measured load, while engine fuel requirements (e.g., throttle position) are strictly a function of measured engine speed. Fuel requirements are therefore precisely adjusted in accordance with the ideal characteristic for any load placedmore » on the engine.« less
  • A system is described for monitoring the state of and for control of an electric power delivery network including power conductors. The system consists of: sensor modules distributed throughout the network, each being removably attached to a respective one of the power conductors of the network, each of the sensor modules adapted to measure a plurality of characteristics of the conductor to which it is attached, and each of the sensor modules including a radio transmitter for transmitting at selected times the value of the measured characteristics; a radio receiver for receiving the measured characteristics from the sensor modules, themore » receiver including means for deriving operational status information about the power conductors from the measured characteristics; state determining apparatus in communication with the radio receiver for determining the state of the power delivery network from the operational status information about power conductors received from the radio receiver; and control apparatus coupled to the state determining apparatus and to the power conductors for controlling the power delivery network in accordance with the state of the network as determined by the state determining apparatus.« less
