Abstract

The goal of the Meteorology Program is to provide all routine meteorology measurements for LANL operational requirements. This report discusses the program, its routine operations, and other services.

This report summarizes data completeness by tower and by instrument for 2017 and compares that data with the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) 2015 standards. This report is designed to make data users aware of data completeness and any data quality issues. LANL meteorology monitoring goals include 95% completeness for all measurements. The ANSI 2015 standard requires 90% completeness for all measurements. This report documents instrument/tower issues as they impact data completeness.

LANL Meteorological Program Improvements to Continue Meeting Annual 90 Percent Data Recovery Requirements

Recently, the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Environmental Protection and Compliance (EPC) and Safety Basis (SB) Divisions have collaborated on the latter’s use of the meteorological data as input into dispersion analysis used to determine receptor dose consequences as a result of an accidental release of radioactive material from a LANL nuclear facility.
