The electronic structural and phonon properties of Na _2-αM _αZrO ₃ (M ¼ Li,K, α = ¼ 0.0,0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0) are investigated by first-principles density-functional theory and phonon dynamics. The thermodynamic properties of CO ₂ absorption and desorption in these materials are also analyzed. With increasing doping level α, the binding energies of Na _2-αLi _αZrO ₃ are increased while the binding energies of Na _2-α K _αZrO ₃ are decreased to destabilize the structures. The calculated band structures and density of states also show that, at the same doping level, the doping sites play a significant role in the electronic properties.more »« less

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in multilayer thin films promotes the development of spintronic and magnonic research fields. The origin of the PMA deserves a thorough investigation since it contains rich physics related to multiple factors in the heterostructure system. In this report, we study the origin of PMA in La _2/3Sr _1/3 Mn O ₃ (LSMO) thin films sandwiched by La _1-xSr _xCoO _3-δ (LSCO) layers grown on SrTiO ₃ substrate, using aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy.
