Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA) will be as common place as steady state security assessment by the end of this century in the EMS software. It is much more difficult and complex because of the computational burden as well as the need for fast real time simulation of a large differential-algebraic system of equations. In this paper the authors will discuss DSA and the role parallel computation will play in its implementation.
