Production test 105-440-P measurement of neutron fluxes in graphite reflector
This report describes a series of neutron flux measurements made in order to obtain a relationship between the flux observed at the inner surface of the shield and local fringe tube power; this correlation would be expected to be more valid than that with total pile power level. The facility used for these measurements, the E test facility at the F Pile, is one which is very useful for pile irradiation of small samples provided temperature control does not have to be maintained. Interim report No. 1 on Production Test 105-407-P -- Pile test of magnesium front dummies
The inlet portions of pile process tubes, which originally contained a pattern of aluminum dummy slugs, have been reported subject to pitting corrosion since the removal of the slugs. This corrosion is more severe than that found in the other portions of the tubes. The insertion of magnesium dummy slugs has been recommended to arrest this corrosion. A pile test of the effect of magnesium dummies is in progress and preliminary results are reported. Current-voltage relationships between magnesium and aluminum have been found to be satisfactory.
