Title: Information on SOR Draft EIS Technical Appendices : A Guide to Contents of the Appendices and How to Order Them.

Abstract

This brochure provides information on the various appendices to the System Operation Review (SOR) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This information should help you decide which of the 19 appendices to request for review and comment. The appendices collectively are approximately 3500 pages long and as such represent a significant amount of information. They are the raw materials from which the summary and Draft EIS are prepared.

  • The Columbia River System Operation Review (SOR) gave river managers, users, and the general public a chance to examine system operations in detail, to study how each river use affects others, and to consider the consequences of changing the way the system works. The task was enormous, and it was a multiyear undertaking. In its wake, the SOR left a multitude of documents and six years of analysis that can and should be used broadly for other reference and research purposes. This catalog will introduce you to numerous SOR products to be found throughout the 20 appendices and the Finalmore » Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Main Report. They include maps, models, data bases, current descriptions of Federal hydro projects and river resources, publications, and slide shows.« less
  • Standards of performance for the control of hexavalent chromium emissions from comfort cooling towers are being proposed under authority of Section 6 of the Toxic Substances Control Act. These standards would apply to existing and new comfort cooling towers. This document contains background information and environmental and economic impact assessments of the regulatory alternatives considered in developing the proposed standards. 104 refs., 9 figs., 41 tabs.
  • Air emission standards are being proposed under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act for hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDF) to reduce emissions of ozone precursors (volatile organic compounds) and exposures to hazardous air pollutants. The document contains source assessment model, estimating health effects, and test data on emission sources as well as the controls. The regulatory alternatives consider application of air pollution controls on tanks, surface impoundments, and containers used to manage hazardous waste at TSDFs, as well as at generators using tanks and containers to accumulate large quantities of waste on site. The document is dividedmore » into a three volume set.« less
