Title: Fission dynamics studied by neutron and GDR gamma emission

Abstract

The authors analyze recent data on the multiplicity of pre-scission {gamma}-rays and neutrons to study the time-scale for fission of hot nuclei formed in heavy ion reactions. At the highest excitation energies measured, the data are well accounted for by the full one-body dissipation mechanism, but at lower excitation energies the dissipation appears to be absent. A disparity in the excitation energy dependence of the dissipation seen in neutron and {gamma}-ray experiments is observed.
