DOE Award DOI Service API Documentation

The Award DOI Service API allows you to submit information describing an award
and obtain a digital object identifier (DOI) for the award. An award can include awards,
contracts, equipment, facilities, grants, prizes, salary awards, time awarded, and
training grants.  The API can also be used to retrieve information about previously
submitted awards. The API is built on a REST architecture. 

The Award DOI Service is provided by the Department of Energy Office of Scientific and
Technical Information (DOE OSTI). The service allows DOE funding offices, national
laboratories, and user facilities to request DOIs for awards. DOIs are persistent
identifiers that can facilitate the acknowledgement, citation, discovery, and reuse of
information, recognized globally as a way to uniquely identify research objects such as
awards, publications, datasets, software, and reports.  DOIs are resolvable to a landing
page that includes information (metadata) describing the research object.
