STI products should be provided to OSTI in electronic format, preferably in Portable Document Format (PDF) Searchable; however, certain other electronic formats are acceptable:
- Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) for site-hosted STI only
- Microsoft Word (Versions 5.0 or greater) for AN 241.3 submittals only
- PDF Searchable
- PDF Non-Searchable
As technologies evolve, the list of acceptable electronic formats will be revised and updated.
The following table lists the acceptable electronic formats and usage guidance.
- If the originating site is going to host the product on a publicly accessible server, a unique URL must be provided to OSTI with a direct link to the product. The STI product should not be encrypted or password-protected.
- If the originating site is not going to host the product, it must be uploaded. The STI product should not be encrypted or password-protected.

*OSTI will convert the file to PDF. There may be a delay in releasing the STI to the OSTI products which may include Information Bridge, Energy Citations Database, Science Research Citations Database, and Science Research Connection.
