STIP Managers Teleconference
Wednesday, November 4, 2005
12:00-1:00 pm ET
Attendees: Anna Strong (BNC), Roselle Drahushak-Crow
(GFO), Kevin Schmidt (SRS),
GPO Fugitive Documents Project (Judy Gilmore): This topic was discussed at the recent DOE Library Operations Working
Group held at ORNL. Because federal agencies feed STI to the GPO
Depository Libraries, GPO is looking for documents they should have received,
but didn’t. OSTI is looking at DOE web sites to determine if documents
exist that should have come to OSTI, but didn’t and therefore didn’t go to
GPO. This problem appears more prevalent with other federal
agencies. Some DOE Program Offices appear to be the source of such
documents, as opposed to the sites. Document criteria include (1) must to
DOE-sponsored, (2) unlimited distribution, and (3) scientific and technical
information.
Annual Information Management
Conference Call for Papers (Kathy Waldrop): Formerly the Annual
Information Technology Conference (AITC), the name change to AIMC (http://cybertrain.labworks.org/conferences/march2006)
infers a broader scope for the conference.
OSTI would like for the STIP Community to use this opportunity to
emphasize the broader information management scope (i.e., DOE STIP). The Call
for Papers was extended to Monday, November 14. PNNL has already agreed
to attend and present a paper. This conference is a great opportunity to
raise the visibility of the STIP community.
2006
E-Link (Kathy Waldrop): As a follow-up to the E-Link
discussion during the September STIP call, the new E-Link was deployed on September
6. During the first several weeks, the
system had some bugs, but as bugs have been identified, they have been
corrected and things are going well.
Harvesting (Jannean Elliott): There were some documents in the Harvesting stream when E-link changed
on September 6. Harvesting has been running using the interim code while
OSTI has been working on the programming for the new code which as of yesterday
is now complete. OSTI harvested NREL’s
STI documents using the new code last night. It was run against the
interim code as a quality-control measure, and there were no problems.
Tonight, four other sites data will be harvested using the new
code. The latest site to begin the Harvesting process is Sandia.
