To take advantage of the strengths of both the deep Web and the surface Web, we have followed a two-pronged approach. First, we are developing and enhancing metasearch capability. Metasearch is having a single query simultaneously pulse multiple databases and, then, compiling the results from all these databases for the patron.

The other approach is exposing deep Web content to surface Web search engines.

I will now discuss each of these approaches in some detail.
