The present status of stellarator experiments and recent progress in stellarator research (both experimental and theoretical) are reported by groups in the United States, the USSR, Japan, Australia, and the European Community (the Federal Republic of Germany and Spain). The traveler participated in the 2nd International Symposium on High-Temperature Corrosion of Advanced Materials and Coatings and presented an invited paper. He chaired a session on High-Temperature Corrosion. The symposium covered 11 themes over 4-1/2 days. There were two sessions each day, one in the morning and one in the evening, with afternoons devoted to poster sessions. This provided opportunities for the participants to have private discussions on topics of mutual interest.
