In remote engineering, the tools fall into three catagories: cranes, power manipulators, and force-reflecting manipulators. The design of a remote facility includes three components: the technical scenario, the remote equipment, and the facility design. Three key points are highlighted: dexterity of various manipulation forms (a table compares the times required to do typical tasks), the man/machine interface, and the systems approach to remote development.
