Radiometric networks and data bases for PV design and performance evaluation

Access to reliable sources of solar radiation data is an important aspect of photovoltaic (PV) system design and performance evaluation. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of non-commercial sources of solar radiation data and related meterological information available nationally and internationally to the PV system designer for applying the information to a PV system. A summary of measurement types, associated instrumentation, and sources of measured data are presented.
