The synthesis strategies for highly condensed {Fe₁₁} and {Fe₁₆} pivalate clusters have been developed based on archetypal geometrically frustrated triangular {Fe₃(μ₃-O)} motifs that are interlinked via oxo, hydroxo, ethoxo, and carboxylate groups.
