Thermal Photon and Residual Gas Scattering of the Electrons in the ILC RTML The scattering of the primary beam electrons off of thermal photons and residual gas molecules in the projected International Linear Collider (ILC) is a potential source of beam haloes which must be collimated downstream of the linac. In this report we give the analytic estimations of the individual input that each of the main scattering processes makes in the production of off-energy and large amplitude particles in the Damping Ring to Main Linac region (RTML).
