A research study was done to determine if there is evidence to support a link between red-cockaded woodpecker breeding success and groundcover composition of the forest floor. Results confirmed that arthropod biomass was positively correlated to the percent coverage of herbaceous and graminoid vegetation and negatively correlated to the percent coverage of woody vegetation.
