X-IMAGE - a SIMULATE-3 interactive tool for core design
- Studsvik of America, Idaho Falls, ID (United States)
- Purdue Univ., West Lafayette, IN (United States)
The X-IMAGE (X11 interactive multicycle analysis and graphical environment) code package brings point-and-click single-cycle core design and multicycle scoping capability directly to the core designer's desk. Based on the two-group, advanced nodal method implemented in SIMULATE-3, X-IMAGE allows the core designer to quickly and accurately evaluate multiple loading patterns. With emphasis on ease of use and graphic visualization, X-IMAGE uses the XII windowing system and the MOTIF toolkit to take advantage of the graphics capabilities of modern UNIX workstations. X-IMAGE represents a direction in fuel management that allows the designer to concentrate on the relationship between core physics and reactor performance rather than on the tedious management of batch mode computing.
