The Cool Water Coal Gasification Program began electrical production under a Price Guarantee Commitment with the U.S. Synthetic Fuels Corporation June 24, 1984. An Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP) was approved under the Commitment and is now administered by the Dept. of Treasury. The EMP designates four phases of monitoring: Commissioning, Comprehensive, Indicator and Reduced Screening. The second reduced screening phase occurred during May, 1986. Results of gaseous, aqueous and solid stream sampling are presented, as are ambient air monitoring and quality assurance/quality control efforts.
