Title: Geology and petroleum prospects in East China Sea

Conference · · Am. Assoc. Pet. Geol., Bull.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6962155

Geologic studies of the petroleum potential of the East China Sea have progressed through three stages. (1) The tectonic divisions and evolution of the East China Sea were investigated using geophysical data, including gravimetric, magnetic, and seismic information. (2) Seismic data over the Shelf basin were interpreted and mapped, to understand the Cenozoic structural history of the East China Sea. (3) More detailed seismic shooting has allowed for detailed prospect mapping and seismo-stratigraphic studies. This stage has resulted in the mapping of numerous drillable prospects, several among them having been proved to contain commercial quantities of oil and gas. Presently, results from the Lingfeng 1 well point to new and different directions for exploration in the basin.
